Flora and Fauna

1. Dark Horse - 09-28-10; 8:30am; Rural Rexburg; f 5.6; 1/500; Canon Rebel Xs
2. Light Horse - 09-28-10; 8:30am; Rural Rexburg; f 5.0; 1/800; Canon Rebel Xs
3. Red Leaves - 09-28-10; 7:30; Rural Rexburg; f 5.6; 1/50; Canon Rebel Xs

I went shooting early in the morning and it was so much fun! These are just three of the many pictures I took. With "Dark Horse" I adjusted the brightness and contrast, as well as the saturation. I did mask out the saturation on the horse so he didn't look funky. On "Light Horse" to get the focus and color I wanted on the horse I had to go back and put the saturation up on the sky so that it looked more realistically blue. I am really proud of "Red Leaves" and this is why. I didn't have to do any editing. That is the original photo. Well until next time...happy shooting...pictures that is.

Flexible Filters and Adjustment Layers

1. Spout - 09-28-10; 7:45am; Rural Rexburg; f 5.6; 1/1000; Canon Rebel Xs
2. Yellow Truck 09-28-10; 9am; Rural Rexburg; f 5.6; 1/200; Canon Rebel Xs

For "Spout" what I had taken felt too dark especially on the actual spout so I wanted to lighten it up using Adjustment Layers. I used Screen to lighten the spout and put a 50% opacity mask on the water so that it didn't lighten up as much as the spout. For "Yellow Truck" I converted the image to a smart object then I put the Cutout filter on and messed with the levels of the filter to adjust it to what I wanted it to look like.

EDITating

1. Mallory Layton: 09-20-10; 4pm; The Pines Parking; f/18; 1/200; Canon T1i
2. Harley: 09-20-10; 3pm; The Pines Parking; f/4.5; 1/640; Canon T1i

Once I took the Harley photo I knew I liked it and wanted to use it. I got a texture from a concrete block outside my apartment in some new building they are doing. Then I blended the two using overlay. I played with a lot of the blending modes but for this shot I decided I liked overlay best. With Mallory I had taken some fun pictures of her but didn't really know what I wanted to do with them. Then it dawned on me that I could do the repeat and fade type special type effect. I had fun with it.

Look at the stars, Look how they shine for you, And everything you do, Yeah they were all YELLOW

1. Motobike: 09-20-10; 3pm; The Pines Parking; f/5.6; 1/640; Canon T1i
2. All lines point go - 09-20-10; 4pm; BYU-Idaho Campus; f/8; 1/250; Canon T1i
3. Playtime! - 09-20-10; 3:30pm; Porter Park; f/16; 1/100; Canon T1i
4. Flowers and Grass 09-20-10; 3pm; The Pines Parking; f/13; 1/200; Canon T1i

I started shooting with a couple colors in mind. Brown was one of my options and the other was yellow. I had the hopes of taking all my pictures in mustard yellow since it is a very popular color to wear. However outside I found many different and fun yellows so I went a shooting. I tried to vary my shots but found it difficult to incorporate yellow in a deep depth of field so I chose three shallow depth of fields and one deep.
