4. Horse Partial Cutout - 9/28/10; 7:30am; Hibbard; 1/160; f/5.0; Canon Rebel Xs

These are some pictures I took a little earlier on this semester. I decided they would be the best to use for cutouts. I really enjoyed learning how to use refine edge it helped out a lot. I've done a lot of cutting out for different advertising assignments and I wish I had know about this earlier. I didn't actually do any other edits to these shots. I just took them as were. hehe.

7. Light Tracks - 11/1/10; 10:15pm; The Cedars; 1.3 sec; f/4.0; Canon Rebel Xs

I had so much fun with this assignment! I love night and light shots. I did a smart sharpen on the shots  with Joe and Allen. This actually makes the glow sticks look pretty cool too. With the picture of Joe jumping I added some contrast as well. I did some cropping on Allen's picture to focus it on the important part of the picture. Oh and on Light Tracks I add some brightness for the trees. On Light Race I bumped up the vibrancy which helped the background color. Hope you all enjoy!

Photolusion

1. Photolusion - Shooting Lights: 11/1/10; 10:22pm; Rexburg, Id; 2sec; f/4.0; Canon Rebel Xs
2. Brake Lights: 11/1/10; 10:20pm; Rexburg, Id; 1.3sec; f/4.0; Canon Rebel Xs
3. Will in Intersection: 11/1/10; 10:22pm; Rexburg, Id; 2sec; f/4.0; Canon Rebel Xs

Photolusion was kind of hard for me to think of. This kind of just happened. I decided to do some night photography and I was walking home from doing it and decided to get some brake light shots streaking across the scene. I looked at the Brake Lights picture on my camera and decided I needed to run out and do something in the middle of the intersection. I had to wait a couple minutes before there weren't any cars there. I had a ten second timer so I set it then ran and I held pretty darn still for a 2 second shutter speed. Afterwards in photoshop I bumped up the brightness but masked out the lights part. Photolusion is all around good times.

7. Dry Waterfall: 10/29/10; 10:30am; Byu-Idaho Campus;  1/100; f/8; Canon Rebel Xs

This was a hard assignment. I missed class on Tuesday so I didn't know about it until Thursday so I had some make up to do. I really did enjoy shooting however, seeing that it was Halloween weekend. I loved doing the night photography with the leaves and the self portrait. It was hard to get myself in the depth of field but I did it. I tried to use a clipping mask but it didn't work so I ended up just adjusting the frames with the pictures and it turned out well. Below is the template I used.

Border Edits

1. Lexi - 10/15/10; 7pm; Menan, ID; 1/60; f/5.6; Canon Rebel Xs
2. Serenity - 9/28/10; 6:30am; Rexburg, ID; 1/200; f/4.0; Canon Rebel Xs
3. Janaye - 10/19/10; 9:30am; Rexburg, ID; 1/50; f/5.6; Canon Rebel Xs

The border edits were fun. I did a number of differents edits but these were the ones I liked the best. For Lexi I did the Flexible Vignette but decided to add a double border. For Serenity I did the Burned Border and added some text. For Janaye I did the Double Fade Border and changed the color so it wasn't just white.

Scanography!

Scan Info: Scanner: HP Deskjet F4480; 1-4 Scanned at 12pm 10/26/10; 5 scanned at 11pm 10/25/10 All scanned at 200 ppi

I had a lot of fun with these scans. With the Guitar Blend I took the three scans and used multiply blending mode on the strap then I literally multiplied it by copying the layers. I also masked out everything except the capo I wanted from that scan. I edited color for the guitar by adding vibrance and saturation. The money scan took me quite some time to get ready. I started out with the money and the two dollar bill but it felt like it lacked something so I started looking for an American Flag. I found a friend who had an Old Navy shirt. It was perfect so I draped that over the money and love how it turned out.

7. Janaye Tree 2 - 10/19/2010; 9:20am; Downtown Rexburg; 1/50; f/5.0; Canon Rebel Xs
8. Joe on his Bike - 10/19/2010; 9am; Downtown Rexburg; 1/320; f/5.6; Canon Rebel Xs
9. Cheerleader - 10/16/2010; 2pm; Stadium; 1/250; f/10; Canon Rebel Xs

I'm in love with portraits. They are so much fun! I found out that my camera doesn't take the sharpest of pictures so with everyone of these I smart sharpened them. Then I adjusted the vibrance, saturation(only slightly) and contrast. Because of the smart sharpen on a few of them I had to heal brush some acne out that had been accentuated by the sharpen effect. I edited cheerleader in Raw to adjust the lighting and such to how I wanted it. It was nothing too big but I enjoy the flexibility of the adjustment brush.

Match, Replace and Portrait Enhancement

1. Live, Laugh, Love - 10/19/2010; 9am; Downtown Rexburg; 1/64; f/5.6; Canon Rebel Xs
2. Live, Laugh, Love Orig - 10/19/2010; 9am; Downtown Rexburg; 1/64; f/5.6; Rebel Xs
3. Color Source - 10/19/2010; 9am; Downtown Rexburg; 1/64; f/5.6; Canon Rebel Xs
4. Pink Door - 10/19/2010; 9am; Downtown Rexburg; 1/64; f/5.0; Canon Rebel Xs
5. Yellow Door - 10/19/2010; 9am; Downtown Rexburg; 1/64; f/5.0; Canon Rebel Xs
6. Joe Edited - 10/19/2010; 9am; Downtown Rexburg; 1/64; f/5.6; Canon Rebel Xs
7. Joe Original - 10/19/2010; 9am; Downtown Rexburg; 1/64; f/5.6; Canon Rebel Xs

I had a lot of fun with these edits. I thought the live, laugh, love one was a cool shot but when I looked at it on my computer I determined I needed to change the color so I matched it with another shot that I thought had a warmer tone to it. The pink door was originally yellow and so was her flower. I thought it would be fun to change it up so I replaced the yellow with pink. With Joe I sharpened the picture with smart sharpen but that made his acne stand out. I wanted to make him look even better than he already did so I smoothed the complexion of his skin by using the paintbrush tool and blending it. He loved it.

RAWrrrr

1. Shanty Raw: 10/9/10; 1:30pm; Parker, ID; 1/200; f/6.3; Canon Rebel Xsi w/flash
2. Shanty Original: 10/9/10; 1:30pm; Parker, ID; 1/200; f/6.3; Canon Rebel Xsi w/flash

I thought the original was a pretty cool picture so I decided to use it as my raw edit. I don't remember using a flash but however either way the building was dull and I thought the picture could be a lot cooler. In raw I turned up Recovery and Vibrance on the whole picture. Also I turned down lights and darks on the tone curve, turned the yellows down and added a slight vignette. Also just on the wood using an adjustment brush I enhanced the wood by changing brightness down 100, contrast up 100, and sharpness up a little bit.

Panorama'd

1. Dunes Panorama: 10/9/10 2pm; St. Anthony Sand Dunes; f/14; Canon Rebel Xsi w/ flash
2. Pan 1: 10/9/10 2pm; St. Anthony Sand Dunes; 1/25; f/14; Canon Rebel Xsi w/flash
3. Pan 2: 10/9/10 2pm; St. Anthony Sand Dunes; 1/40; f/14; Canon Rebel Xsi w/flash
4. Pan 3: 10/9/10 2pm; St. Anthony Sand Dunes; 1/50; f/14; Canon Rebel Xsi w/flash
5. Pan 4: 10/9/10 2pm; St. Anthony Sand Dunes; 1/50; f/14; Canon Rebel Xsi w/flash
6. Pan 5: 10/9/10 2pm; St. Anthony Sand Dunes; 1/50; f/14; Canon Rebel Xsi w/flash

I took a little trip out to the dunes. It was a pretty dreary day but I snapped some Panorama shots that I really like. I didn't like the lack of colors so in Photoshop I bumped up the saturation, vibrance, and contrast. Also I didn't like the gray skies so I changed them to a slight blue using color balance and a mask. My friends were playing in the sand.

HDR

1.  "River HDR" 9/29/10 3:40pm; Bannack Ghost Town; f/14; Canon Rebel Xs - Tripod
2. "River Dark": 9/29/10; 3:40pm; Bannack Ghost Town; 1/125; f/14; Canon Rebel Xs - Tripod
3. "River Light": 9/29/10; 3:40pm; Bannack Ghost Town; 1/8; f/14; Canon Rebel Xs - Tripod
4. River Medium": 9/29/10; 3:40pm; Bannack Ghost Town; 1/25; f/16; Canon Rebel Xs - Tripod
5. "Shelf HDR": 9/29/10; 1:30pm; Bannack Ghost Town; 1/140; f/3.5; Canon Rebel Xs
6. "Shelf": 9/29/10; 1:30pm; Bannack Ghost Town; 1/140; f/3.5; Canon Rebel Xs

I had a lot of fun learning how to use this program. I love what it can do to liven up an image. I took three imperfect shots of the river and was able to blend them to get a pretty vibrant shot of the river and all the trees around it. Also I took an indoor shot of a shelf I took. I used eye-catching on both of them but also played around with temperature(Kelvin) and light tuner as well as curves and color equalizer. I don't feel like either of these are extreme examples of HDR and that's why I like them. Oh and I cropped my fingers out of the river shots.
